Kamatics Corporation

Core Competency:
Since its founding in 1966, Kamatics has focused on applying its proprietary technology to solve difficult operational problems, especially those resulting from a hostile or otherwise challenging environment. The company manufactures high performance mechanical products which are used as original equipment and/or specified as replacement parts by the manufacturers of nearly every military and commercial aircraft operating in the free world today and a wide variety of military, space, hydropower, and select industrial applications. These are market-leading products for applications requiring highly sophisticated engineering and specialization and are designed and manufactured in Bloomfield, Connecticut and in Dachsbach, Germany at their RWG Frankenjura facilities.

The unique KAron bearing system offers an innovative alternative to traditional lubricated bearings providing exceptional features and benefits. Since its development over 30 years ago, the KAron bearing system has been repeatedly selected for use in the most demanding aviation and marine applications. Noted for its high performance and low wear rate, KAron has become an ideal replacement for teflon fabric-lined bearings. Its performance has proven superior in providing longer life and withstanding high moisture environments, elevated temperatures and contamination.

Helicopter flight maneuvers often generate high misalignment between the engine and the transmission, which must be accommodated by the connecting driveshaft. Such driveshafts, which spin at speeds over 6,000 RPM, often incorporate grease lubrication and seals. Designs of this type are susceptible to loss of lubrication, which results in overheating and possible failure, a major safety concern. The KAflex driveshaft is a mechanical drive coupling which requires no lubrication or seals and transmits power while accommodating misalignment and length change through the use of flexible rectangular frames. A fail-safe feature enables the coupling to continue to transmit power even in the unlikely event of a failure in a load carrying member.
In 1990, a new and unique high-performance flyer bow was introduced to the wire industry. By applying advanced aerospace analytical and fabrication techniques, Kamatics achieved a quantum advancement in strength and durability. The superior performance and quality of these bows were immediately recognized and, in less than three years, they became the volume leader in the replacement market worldwide.
